1) Building dams means fertile soil near river will be eroded.
2) It will also stop water supply to crops.
3) People have to leave their places as it can cause danger of flood.
Suggestions : Dams must not be build in populated areas and not near banks of river.

The three main problems caused due to the construction of large dams are as follows :-

  • In flat basins, large dams cause flooding over large tracts of land destroying a huge mass of life and property.

  • The construction of such multi purpose structures ,in many cases, leads to the aggravation of natural calamities such as Earthquakes.

  • The construction of such multi purpose structures leads to the submergence of large vegetations under water.
