question: List three strategies that bisexual plants prevent pollination.
Solution:
Bisexual plant are the plant which have male as well as female reproductive parts.
That is stamens and carpels.
The bisexual plant are benefited as they usually do not need pollinators.
They can self pollinate them.
But as this helpful it can sometime even harm them.
When the plant gets self pollinated there is no chance of variation.
Due to this plants may suffer from inbreeding depression.
The plant yield less from that time.
So inorder to prevent this plants have come up with many strategies.
some of which are :-
~ The stigma and anther mature at different times.
This condition is called dichogamy
~ The anther and stigma are at different end so to prevent pollination.
This condition is called heterostyly.
~ The stigma of the plant dosent accept the pollen grains from the same plant.
this condition is known as Herkogamy.
So usually the plant uses such mechanism to avoid self pollination in bisexual plant.
