Sepoys in the presidency of Bengal revolted against their British officers. The first main cause of this revolt is the army was the immediate cause because the sepoys rifles gunpowder made with beef and pork. So the Hindu and Muslim soldiers are angered it effects their religion. Religious and Economic factors played a pivotal role but religious factors gave a serious effect for this revolt.At the time of establishment of East India company the economic conditions of India was much better.Under British rule the productivity of land was reduced over time, the cost of land, crops, food grains etc all are in their hands.The economic revolution started at that time.
