The two reasons are-
(1)- catenation- it is the self linking property of carbon with another elements due to its tetravalency.
(2)-the size of carbon atom is very strong so it forms max. stable compounds.
covalent bond is formed on most of its compounds.
carbon compounds forms covalent bonds because it is tetravalent , it can neither gain or lose electrons, so it shrares them.
(1)- carbon compounds have low melting boiling point because in between carbon compounds covalent bonds are formed which is weaker bond.
(2)- they do not conduct electricity in solid state because in solid state the atoms are near so electrons do not have the space to move while in molten state the re is enough space for movement
