Friction is ubiquitous. Whenever you see two surfaces rubbing against each other, friction is involved. In general, whenever two media have a relative motion, friction is involved.

Due to friction only, we are able to walk, drive a vehicle. Friction is used in brakes, in clutches, in belts to transmit power, etc.

Friction is manifested in almost all engineering applications.

Though sometimes friction becomes troublesome, as in cases of fluid flowing through the pipes, it is inevitable.

Due to the “drag” force , energy generation from wind is possible.
