The Mother Wolf asserts her claim by answering that she is Raksha (The Demon). She also says that the man cub is hers and he would live to hunt with the pack, and later hunt and kill Shere Khan. She further insults him by saying that she will sent him back to his dead mother lamer than he already is if he ever tries to attack the man cub. Her behaviour shows that she is a very caring mother and is very protective of those she loves.
