Literature represents the society, because it includes information, policies, things which are important, language, symbols of culture, etc. All of these things are included in the depiction of society.

Society is made up of people which includes the basic norms of that society and their traditions and culture that helps to represent that society.

Indian writers like Masti Venkatesha Iyenger, Vikram Seth and Kalki have portrayed Indian culture and their sub cultures to the world. They have shared each of their experiences through writing and disseminated it to the world.

Local Language:

1- Masti Venkatesha Iyenger, published his first work, Rangana Maduve in 1910, written in  modern Kannada literature.

2- Vikram Seth has published eight books of poetry and four novels. In 1980, he wrote Mappings, his first book of poetry and he showcased not only his own language but others as well to help communicate better

3- R. Krishnamoorthy wrote books and Tamil and shared with the world.

Local culture:

1- Masti Venkatesha Iyenger wrote more than 123 books in Kannada and 17 in English which included this philosophical views through expression in poetry.

He wrote a "Chikaveera Rajendra", Historical Novel about the last king of Kodagu which showcased the local culture of his area and its history.
