Lithium ,potassium and sodium are in the same group in the periodic table but potassium seems to be more reactive than sodium. Why?

Answer:

See, just because Lithium,potassium and Sodium belong to the same group, you cannot assume that they will be having the same reactivity. You also have to take into consideration the reactivity table of metals. Potassium needs more number of electrons in the outermost shell to form an octet while Calcium needs lesser number of electrons to form an octet. Hence we can conclude by saying that Potassium is more reactive than Calcium.
