SOLUTION :

Given that,

Cost of 1/4 L milk = Rs. 4

TO FIND :

cost \: of \: 6  \frac{1}{2}  \: milk

PROCESS :

Let us solve this word problem by a method called the unitary method

Cost of 1 L milk will be =

4 \div  \frac{1}{4}

4 \times 4

16

Now,

Now, let us convert the mixed fraction.

6 \frac{1}{2}  =  \frac{13}{2}

So,

Cost of 13/2 litres milk =

 \frac{13}{2}  \times 16

13 \times 8

104

Hence, the required cost is 104
