Explanation:

After the food is stored in the stomach it is mixed with the acid that is present in the stomach which is required to decrease the pH of the food so that the enzyme pepsinogen is activated and is used for digestion of proteins in the food.

From the stomach the food travels to the small intestine where before it enters it is mixed with the secretions from the liver and pancreas.

The secretion of the liver is the bile which does not contain any digestive enzymes but it is used for the emulsification of fat so that the fat present in the food is broken down to small fat globules which can be digested easily.

Also the bile has an alkaline nature which is required for the activation of the pancreatic enzymes.

Also as the bile and the pancreatic juices enter the intestine via hepatopancreatic duct they mix with the acidic chime from the stomach and neutralize its pH.

And further digestion in the intestine is continued.
