Basically there are 4 types/kinds of sentences in English grammer those are :-

1] Assertive/ Declarative sentence:-

→ These sentence can be called as assertive or Declarative sentence both. Basically these sentence show a feeling, opinion, incident,event,etc.

→ These can be written as both negative or positive.

2] Imperative sentence:-

→ These are also known as command sentence. This sentence is used in the case of command, instructions, or making a request or offer.

→ They can also be in negative or positive both.

3] Interrogative sentence:-

→ These sentence asks a question. In this sentence the first person asks a question, which always ends with a question mark (?).

4] Exclamatory sentence:-

→ This sentence depicts strong emotions or feelings of a person. Exclamatory mark can be out anywhere here, at the Beginning or at the end.

  • Yes / No Question
  • Wh- Question
  • Choice Question

Example:

Do you have a pen? (Yes/no)

Which is your pen? (Wh- type)

Do you want pencil or pen? (Choice)

(d) Exclamatory Sentence:-

Sentence that expresses sudden feelings like a surprise or a shock is called as Exclamatory sentence. The final punctuation is usually, but not necessarily an exclamation mark (!).

Example:

What a lovely day!

Oops! She fell down again.
