Answer:

Let the total no of student be X. 40% are girls, then (100%-40%=60%)be boys.

No of girls=x×40%

=x×40/100

=4x/10

According to question there are 8 more boys,so

No of boys=4x/10+8

60%×x=4x/10+8

6x/10=4x/10+8

6x/10-4x/10=8

(6x-4x)/10=8

2x=80

X=40

Total no of student is 40

Finally

No of boys is

=60%×x

=(60/100)×40

=(6/10)×40

=24

Therefore the no of boys is 24 and no of girl is (40-24=16) 16.

ANSWER :–

  • The number of girls in a class =

GIVEN :–

In a class,

  • The number of girls is more than the number of boys.
  • Total students = 40.

TO FIND :–

  • Total number of girls in a class.

SOLUTION :–

Let,

The number of boys be x.

Thee number of girls be x + 8 because in the given question the number of girls is more than the number of boys.

According to the condition,

Number of boys + Number of girls = 40

 \longrightarrow x + (x + 8)= 40

 \longrightarrow x + x + 8 = 40

 \longrightarrow2x + 8 = 40

 \longrightarrow2x = 40 - 8

 \longrightarrow2x = 32

 \longrightarrow x =  \cancel \dfrac{32}{2}

 \longrightarrow x = 16

So,

The number of boys = x = 16.

The number of girls = x + 8 = 16 + 8 = 24.

Hence,

The number of girls is 24.

VERIFICATION :–

Number of boys + Number of girls = Total students

We have,

  • Number of boys = 16.
  • Number of girls = 24.

 \longrightarrow16 + 24 = 40

 \longrightarrow40 = 40
