Question :

• ln fig, APB and AQP are semi-circles, and, AO = OB. If the perimeter of the figure is 47 cm, find the area of the shaded region. (Use π = 22/7).

Given :

• APB and AQP are semi curcles.

• Perimeter of the figure = 47 cm.

To find :

• Find the area of a shaded region.

Solution :

★ Area of tthe shaded region ★

⇒Area = area of the circle - 1/4 area of the circle

⇒Area = 1 - 1/4 area of the circle [ we used 1 because the fraction of the circle is equal to 1; 4/4 = 1]

⇒Area = 3/4 area of the circle

⇒Area = 3/4 × πr²

⇒Area = 3/4 × 22/7 × 7²

⇒Area = 3/4 × 22/7 × 7 × 7

⇒Area = 3/4 × 22 × 7

⇒ Area = 3/2 × 11 × 7

⇒Area = 3/2 × 77

⇒Area = 231/2

⇒Area = 115.5 cm.

Therefore, the area of the shaded region is 115.5 cm.
