Answer:

lobefin, common name for any of a group of lunged, fleshy-finned, bony fishes, also called crossopterygians, that were dominant in the Devonian period and may have given rise to amphibians. They had heavy, ungainly bodies and stumpy paired fins, which may have been the precursors of the limbs of four-footed animals.

They were aquatic and had scales and fleshy fins. However, they also had lungs that they used to breathe oxygen. Between 390 and 360 million years ago, the descendents of these organisms began to live in shallower waters, and eventually moved to land.

Lobefins evolved into the first Amphibians.

What is evolution?

Charles Darwin put forth the concept of evolution or natural selection according to which all the living organism around us go through gradual changes naturally to survive in the wild. All living organism adapt themselves to survive and give rise to progeny, thus transferring their genes further into the environment.

Lobefins were bony fish that are cladistically closer to the amphibians of today. Their limbs evolved in the legs of amphibia to allow faster movement. They had moist, slimy skin and most likely adapted to the terrestrial lifestyle from their former aquatic one.
