  • Mark negative numbers on the left side and positive numbers on the right side to the zero.

  • Construct OABC rectangle whose length 3 units and breadth 2 units

  • OA = BC = 3 units

  • OC = AB = 2 units

  • Join OB is a diagonal.It divides the rectangle into two congruent right angled triangles.

  • In ∆ OAB , By Pythagoras Theorem

  • The square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides.

  • OB² = OA²+AB²
