LOCATION :

Stomata are found on the leaves of plants. They can either be present on both the sides or just on one side of the leaf. They are found in the epidermis of the leaf and cover nearly 1-12% of the leaf surface. Although they are found on the epidermis, the exact positioning is different from plant to plant.

FUNCTION :

The two main functions of stomata are to allow for the uptake of carbon dioxide and to limit the loss of water due to evaporation. In many plants, stomata remain open during the day and closed at night. Stomata are open during the day because this is when photosynthesis typically occurs.
