Assam being the oldest state in the production of oil has majorly three places where oil fields are located.
These are the Digboi, Naharkatiya and Moran-Hugrijan field.
These fields are mainly located alongside the Brahmaputra valley.
Digboi field is located at the north-east of the Tipam hills.
It is the oldest field in Assam and most of the oil is sent here for an oil refinery.
While Naharkatiya is situated at the south-west of Digboi and Moran-Hugrijan is situated at the south-west of Naharkatiya.
