Vikram and Muthu befriended a girl. They ask her what is her birthday. She does not give a straight forward answer, but gives some hints.

She gives them the following 10 dates to pick her birthday.

May: 15, 16, 19
June: 17, 18
July: 14, 16
August: 14, 15, 17

Then she discloses correct month to Vikram and the correct date to Muthu.

Asks Vikram to guess the right birthday. He says sorry I can't, but I am sure even Muthu won't be able to guess it right.

Now Muthu says, I was a bit confused but with Vikram's statement, I know what is her birthday.

Now Vikram says if that is the case, I also know what is it.

Both guessed it right.

Explanation: Firstly we rule out 18th and 19th Dates. Let’s begin.

Since Vikram Knew the Month but the Date options were more than 1, it was not possible to guess the correct date. Hence he did team play to get the date out from Muthu.

Vikram gave hints to Muthu - He mentioned: “Even” Muthu won’t be able to guess it “Right”. The words “Even” and “Right” are the hints which hinted The Month is a “Even” number Month which comes on the Knuckle of the “Right” Palm (acc no Knuckle Mnemonic). Amongst the above months, the only even number month which comes on the Knuckle of the Right Palm is August.

Muthu who knew the date 17th but was a bit confused since 17th was mentioned in June and August (both even numbers). When he stated he was “a bit confused” that gave hint back to Vikram that the confusion was between 17th of the two months (since 18th and 19th is ruled out)

So now both knew the correct date. Team work wins. :)
