Locomotion in sperms takes place with the help of flagella, commonly referred to as Sperm Tail.

The sperm uses the flagella in similar fashion to a fish using its tail fins and thus the whipping visual effect that their swimming produces.

This phenomenon occurs when the sperm is striving to attach itself to the egg and thus swims towards it to achieve fertilization.
