\underline{\textsf{Given:}}

\mathsf{log_a(\dfrac{x}{y})}

\underline{\textsf{To find:}}

\mathsf{log_a(\dfrac{x}{y})=..........}

\underline{\textsf{Solution:}}

\textsf{Let}\;\mathsf{a^m=x\;\;\&\;\;a^n=y}

\implies\mathsf{log_ax=m\;\;\&\;\;log_ay=n}

\textsf{Now}

\mathsf{\dfrac{x}{y}}

\mathsf{=\dfrac{a^m}{a^n}}

\mathsf{=a^{m-n}}

\implies\mathsf{a^{m-n}=\dfrac{x}{y}}

\implies\mathsf{log_a(\dfrac{x}{y})=m-n}

\implies\boxed{\mathsf{log_a(\dfrac{x}{y})=log_ax-log_ay}}

\textsf{This rule is known as Quotient rule of logarithm}
