Here's your answer...

log (x+3) + log (x-3) = log 16

By the property log a + log b = log ab,
log (x+3) + log (x-3) = log (x+3)(x-3) = log (x²-9)

log (x²-9) = log 16

Taking antilog on both sides...

x²-9 = 16
x² = 25
x = 5
