                                  60-x = (55-y) -5 ............(2)

substituting the value of x in equation (2), we get

                                 60 - 3y = (55 - y) - 5

                                 2y = 10

                                   y = 5 and x = 3*5 = 15

hence, larger number is 15 and smaller number is 5.
