hi dude,

Positives:

Industrialisation created a new competitive economic system (Capitalism) that drove innovation faster than anything had ever before - large amounts of manpower were amassed as productive forces the drove massive development and putting industrialised nations ahead of unindustrialised nations.

Masses of new technology became available to humans as industrialisation bought innovation and the emergence of new sciences, materials and ideas. Life became better for those who could afford it.

Industrialisation increased our productive powers and also bought in the invention of the ‘work day’ which meant people had set structured working hours in a day that allowed us to structure productivity and trade. Adding to that, industrialisation bought consumerism (could also be considered a negative).

Advances in technology such as the London Underground progressed modern railway and mass transit technology. Later, health and safety advances would also be made such as sewage systems to curb the effect of disease epidemics on cities.

Negatives:

Diseases spread more easily in densely populated areas such as city workhouses. Before significant advances in health it wasn’t uncommon for epidemics to sweep working populations in cities.

Industrialization exposed the ugly side of humanity. It was a time of massive poverty and exploitation of humans and children. Crime in cities became rampant. Children lived in miserable, often deadly conditions. Working with machines was often deadly since there was little qualification or training needed.

The wastage and consumer culture. People became obsessed with material wealth and amassing wealth. on top of that, people that could afford to consume wasted more.

Pollution. One word, no need to explain it.

Vast exploitation lead to violence and even revolutions.

Loss of individual identity and culture over a more broad, national identity. Pro or con? Maybe both.

thanks...
