Explanation:
I could hear my heart racing when I felt the strange silence building up with each step I took down the lonely road. I knew I shouldn't have gotten out of the car at this hour. But my ego got the better of me and I told Stew to stop the car. I hated when I fought with him, but I hated myself more for taking such an impulsive decision. I felt the drops of rain as they grew and I tightened my arms around my body. This night couldn't get any worse, I thought to myself. It was as if God had overheard my thoughts and a heavy shower started. I ran for cover towards the forest side for the trees when I noticed a deserted cottage. I thought to myself that for a while, it wouldn't be any harm if I would take refuge over there.
I knocked on the doors which were opened. The residents must have gone out, I presumed. The atmosphere felt eerie, I heard a creak and turned around to witness the shadow of a man with an axe. I screamed and closed my eyes when I saw him moving towards me. He touched my shoulder and calmed me down, "This is my home", he spoke. I stopped screaming, teras almost in my eyes and I apologized for reacting this way. The man offered me some tea and a towel to dry off. He told me all about his family and how he was a woodcutter by profession. I sighed in relief and enjoyed his company until the downpour stopped and I took off home.
