There are many common things you do to check if light travels in a straight line; for ex : you can light a torch and can clearly see that light is in a straight line and the same goes for flashlight and other sources of light also.

You can also place three cardboards in a straight line with a hole at same height and can put a candle in front of first cardboard.After that,you will observe that you can see the flame of the candle but if you move the cardboards a little,then you won't be able to see it.

Thus,it proves that light travels in a straight line.
