1. You are given three materials in the form of solutions-citric acid, magnesium hydroxide
and sodium sulphate. Using purple-cabbage solution, how will you classify the given
substances as acidic, basic and neutral?
Differentiate between strong and weak acids.​

 Take purple cabbage solution in three different test tubes and mark

them as A, B and C.

 Add few drops of solution of citric acid, magnesium hydroxide and

sodium sulphate to the test tubes A, B and C respectively.

 Observe the color change.

 Test tube-A: Color changes from purple to red, shows the presence of

acid.

 Test tube –B: Colour changes from purple to Green, shows the presence

of base.

 Test tube- C: No colour change, shows that it is neutral.
