Ans 1) East India company secured valuable privileged in 1717 under the Farman given the Mughal emperor , which allowed company to import and export goods in Bengal without paying taxes . Company servant were permitted to trade but they were not covered under this Farman.

Ans2) The problem with the periodisation of Indian history by James Mill is that he divided the Indian history into Hindu, Muslim and the British period. It has been argued by many historians that it is not correct to periodise the Indian history on the basis of religion of the rulers.
