Views of Orientalist

In 1783, during the time of British, when British thought to educate the Indians there were two views among them.

First was Anglicist, according to them Sanskrit and Persian text were the best option for Indians. Sir john Williams was one of the Anglicist. His views was supported by Lord William.

Another views of that Orientalist, who supported western education. According to them, Indian education was completely inferior to that of western education. Lord thomas macaulay was one of the supporter of Western Education in India.

Later, by the act of 1875, English Education act was passed.
