Cheese is obtained from animal.

That’s why it was not considered as vegetarian food.

But nowadays people would take the cheese as the vegetarian food because as one don't have to kill any animal for the cheese.

It can be obtained from the milk of cow and buffalo.

This food habit is called as the lacto-vegetarianism.

Explanation:

The cheese is the vegetarian product at present in India, which also undergoes the inspection at the production level. Earlier, the cheese was considered as non-veg because it was under the production level of enzyme rennin from cow-calf.

The cow-calf, stomach enzymes were removed and then used along with the dairy substrate to create cheese. Hence the cheese was non-vegetarian earlier and now the non-vegetarian cheese is less purchased by people.
