Cheese is obtained from animal.

That’s why it was not considered as vegetarian food.

But nowadays people would take the cheese as the vegetarian food because as one don't have to kill any animal for the cheese.

It can be obtained from the milk of cow and buffalo.

This food habit is called as the lacto-vegetarianism.

Cheese making involves adding an enzyme called rennet. It is sourced from calves' and goats' stomachs and intestines. This is why cheese was not considered vegetarian.
