Answer:

1. Frictional force causes a lot of losses in general upkeep and wear and tear of machinery. Hence it is considered as a evil. But almost all crucial tasks cannot be carried out without the presence of friction. ... Hence it is considered as a necessary evil .

2.Rolling resistance, sometimes called rolling friction or rolling drag, is the force resisting the motion when a body rolls on a surface. It is mainly caused by non-elastic effects; that is, not all the energy needed for deformation of the wheel, roadbed, etc., is recovered when the pressure is removed.

3. The friction force depends on two factors: a) The materials that are in contact. The two materials and the nature of their surfaces. ... Pushing the surfaces together causes the more of the asperities to come together and increases the surface area in contact with each other.

4. To reduce friction we can make the surfaces in contact smooth. Also adding a lubricant to two surfaces in contact reduces friction between them. Grease is added between the moving parts in machines, to reduce friction. Another method of reducing friction is by using bearings.

5.   Static friction is considered a self adjusting force because it wants to the objects to remain at rest and not move. Therefore, if an external force is applied, the static friction force will equal the magnitude of the external force, until it surpasses the threshold of motion.
