Longitudes are therefore imaginary circles that intersect the North and South Poles, and the Equator. Half of a longitudinal circle is known as a Meridian. Meridians are perpendicular to every latitude. Unlike, latitudes, there is no obvious central longitude.

Longitudes can be considered as circles as the longitudes cover the whole earth in a circular line from pole to pole. The longitudes in halves are known as meridians and the meridians are perpendicular to the latitudes, which cover the earth horizontally.
The vertical lines drawn on the globe are known as longitudes and these longitudes are the imaginary circles which start from one pole and cover the area up to the other pole.
