Answer:

The first part that you want to adjust from the neutral pose to draw a worried expression is to raise the eyebrows up in the middle. You can leave the outward part of the eyebrows in their neutral position. ... You can heighten this worried expression by drawing in some creases at the top of the nose between the eyebrows

Answer:

Here’s a piece that I did during a live painting battle (20 minutes).

For me, loneliness means I am there, but I feel as if I am not.

As this piece was impromptu and under time pressure, I quite like how the emotions ended up expressing themselves on the canvas. It all happened at once on stage, but to break this down:

Colour: I chose to coat the base canvas in black, and paint only the highlights.

Content: The figure depicted could be any gender, any race. We cannot see the face nor the expression - but the emotion is clear in the atmospher. It is the depression in all of us.

Imagery: Background included faint imagery of the moon, perhaps a planet, and flicks of stars - a vast, stoic backdrop of space that echoes silence.

Technique: Jagged, downward strokes all around the figure, expressing chaos, motion, a sense of being overwhelmed, and helplessness.
