Look at the attached graph below. Extend the lines according to how you think the graph might look in 2050. Consider the following:

* Our farmers still produce 60% of the food we eat.

* Manufacturing has started to return to the UK.

* Automation in the services sector is increasing.

Don't forget that the four lines have to add up to 100%!

1. Although our agricultural sector is still an important part of the economy, it represents a very small percentage of the workforce. Why is this?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. Factory workers in less-developed countries are becoming more prosperous.

How might this affect manufacturing in the UK.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. If manufacturing begins to return to the UK, will it provide the same number of jobs as before? If not, why not?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4. The UK leads the world in the creation and design of computer games. Why do you think that this activity can be defined as part of the quaternary sector?
