Explanation:

Song 36 from Rabindranath Tagore’s Geetanjali quotes “strike strike at the root of my penury”

In this line, Tagore prays to God for self-realization. He says to the lord to strike at the root of his heart with all his might for him to realize himself for he is poor in knowing himself and asks the Lord to answer his question by disappearing the poverty left in his heart and to elevate his soul into eternity forever.

Therefore he wants his soul to transcend all earthly barriers and reach into eternity and begs God to do so.
