Given binary number: 00100010.

To explain:  why the 1 in column 6 has a different value to the 1 in column 2.

Solution:

Understand that, the decimal equivalent of the 1 in column 6 will be 32 and the decimal equivalent of the 1 in column 2 is 2. as the place value of both the ones differ from each other.

Place value:7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0\\Number: 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0

value of 1 in column 6: 2^{5}×1=32

value of 1 in column 2: 2^{2}×1=4

Therefore, the the 1 in column 6 has a different value to the 1 in column 2.
