A current in the clockwise direction produces a magnetic S pole while a magnetic N pole would be produced in the anti-clockwise direction.
- When we have a circular loop on a horizontal surface and look perpendicular to it, then there will be a current in the clockwise direction, the same as a magnetic S pole and therefore the field lines end on it. This means that the magnetic field is guided to the loop perpendicular to the horizontal surface.
- If, after making the same observation, we have an anti-clockwise current in the loop, there will be its magnetic N pole and therefore file lines start from it, so that the field is guided perpendicular to the loop and out of the plane.
