1) H+ ions in aqueous solution are responsible for acidic character. HCl,HNO3 etc. generate H+ ions in water while C2H5OH and glucose do not do so, and hence do not show acidic character.

2) In this process, the impure metal is in the anode and the thin strip of pure metal is in the cathode. A solution of the metal salt is used as an electrolyte

3) On examination of electronic configuration of elements, it can be seen that the electronic configuration of the outermost shells of the elements repeat after a certain interval . As the chemical properties of the element depend on the valence electrons, it seems that the periodic properties of elements is due to similar valencies after a regular interval.
