He was a thief who befriended people and earned their trust with the sole purpose of deceiving them and robbing them of their money.
Hari Singh met Anil, a newspaper reporter, who provided him with a roof over his head and taught him to count and write his name. Anil completely trusted him and provided him love, sympathy and affection along with a chance of being literate. Despite this, Hari Singh could not give up his old habits and robbed Anil of his money. He went to the railway station to escape but realized that he had not only robbed Anil but also himself. His conscience pricked on him and he returned home to replace the bundle of notes that he had stolen. His return proved that Anil's love, care, understanding, affection and sympathy had the power to transform even a thief's heart.

Anil was incapable of paying Hari singh, but he accepted and provided shelter to Hari Singh and also taught him to write and count numbers. Anil developed trust in Hari Singh he gave him key of the room and Anil never treat Hari as a outsider. But as Hari was a thief he did his work and steal money from Anil but when he reached the station he realised that he is going to lost a real and only friend and also understood that he is loosing the chance of being literate which would provide him respect in the society and a great life. He came back to Anil and kept the money back.
Thus, Anil's love, friendship and trust towards Hari transform his heart.
