Explanation:

1)as lower alcohols have -OH grop they are polar also they are able to form hydrogen bonds which make them soluble 2)coming to higher alcohols they are insoluble as there will be large alkyl or water repellent group 3)where as hydrocarbons they are non polar from the principle that like dissolves in like they are insoluble in water which is polar
