- Simple past tense is used for an action that happened in a time before now.
The duration of the action is of no importance.
For example: He went to the market.
He bought a shirt.


Past continuous tense means the actions which were going on (had not ended) at a particular time in the past.

Example= The cat was chasing the rat.

It is also used to indicate an action that was in progress when another action occurred in the past.

Example= When I saw him, he was playing football.

Past Indefinite Tense→usually the tense is use to say/talk or mentioning the works which was done in past.

the base of the tense:-

subject+ past form of verb(V2)+ conplement

for an assertive sentence we can use the formula.

for An Interrogative Sentence:-

did+ subject+ V1 + complement

examples;-

Assertive:- I saw him in my birthday party.

Interrogative:-Did u see him in my birthday party?
