Lucknow Gharana Foundation was established by Ustad Bakshu Khan, son of Sidhra Khan, who was the founder of Delhi Gharana.

Ustad Bakshu Khan came to Lucknow to perform at the court of Nawab of Lucknow.

He stayed back in this cultural city and initiated the foundation of Lucknow gharana in 19th century as an authentic accompaniment with Kaththak and Thumri.
