Given = distance(S) =  8.52 meters

             initial velocity = u =0

             g  = 9.8

to find = time

solution =

 use the equation,

          S = ut + at²/2

           8.52= 0(t) + 0.5(9.8)t²

           t = 1.32s

the time required for the shingles to reach the  ground is  t = 1.32s
