Lupe needs a piece of string that is 45.3 cm in length. She knows that if she takes a longer piece and folds it in 4 equal parts, each part will be 45.3 cm. How long is the longer piece of string?

simran856: ans 46. 3 cm
dimpu2227: but how can it be possible??
dimpu2227: i think the answer is wrong
dimpu2227: because if we repeat 45.3 cm four times, then we get a total length of 181.2 cm.

i think

As a piece of string is length: 45.3cm

and when it fold a longer ones  that we don't know - 45.3 each

so 4×45.3 ≈ 181.2 cm

hence, we found longer part length is 181.2 cm
