Lustre of aluminum fades away after a few days because of the formation of an inert layer of aluminum oxide on its surface. This layer prevents aluminum from reacting further.

Air contains oxygen and moisture. The surface of aluminum vessels react with this moisture and oxidizes which leads to the formation of oxides which have a dull colour hence the surface of aluminum loses its lusture.
