1. Two loaves of bread are sliced into12 piece. 5 pieces of the white and 6 pieces of brown was made into sandwiches. What fraction of total bread is left and was used altogether into sandwich?

Answer:

Total number of pieces of breads pieces = 12

Total number of white bread pieces used for making a sandwich = 5 pieces out of 12 = 5/12

Total number of brown pieces used for making a sandwich = 6 pieces out of 12 = 6/12

Thus, the total number of pieces used for making a sandwich are  

= 5/12 = 6/12 = 11/12

The remaining pieces of bread left are=  12/12 – 11/12 = 1/12
