Dolly wanted to increase the dimensionality of her h
all which is 24x24. She decides to increase the
length by 16 and breadth by 12. She wants to floor the tiles with grey colored tiles. The shop has grey
colored tiles in 3x3, 4x4 and 6x6 sizes only. Find minimum number of tiles she needs to buy.​

Solution :-

we have,

→ Initial length = 24

→ Initial breadth = 24

then,

→ New length of floor = 24 + 16 = 40m .

→ New breadth of floor = 24 + 12 = 36m.

Since we require minimum number of square tiles, the size of the tile is given as the HCF of two sides of the room.

then,

→ 40 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 5

→ 36 = 2 * 2 * 3 * 3

→ HCF = 2 * 2 = 4 .

therefore, dolly has to select 4 * 4 size tiles in order for minimum number of tiles .

hence,

→ Number of tiles = 40 * 36 / 4 * 4 = 10 * 9 = 90 tiles (Ans.)
