Lysozyme are not of saliva but an enzyme in the tears

Saliva contain the enzymes, also called ptyalin, which is capable of breaking down starch into simple sugers such as maltose and dextrin that can be further broken down into small intestine. About 30% starch digestion take place in the mouth cavity.
