 {(m +  \frac{1}{m} )}^{2}  =  {( - p)}^{2}  \\  {m}^{2}  +  {( \frac{1}{m} )}^{2} + 2 \times m  \times  \frac{1}{m}   =  { - p}^{2} \\  {m}^{2}  +  \frac{1}{ {m}^{2} }  + 2 =  { - p}^{2}  \\  {m}^{2}  +  \frac{1}{ {m}^{2} }  =  {( - p)}^{2}  - 2

here, we know (-p)² = p².

so we can replace (-p)² with p²

{m}^{2}  +  \frac{1}{ {m}^{2} }  = { p}^{2}  - 2
