M and N are two points on x-axis and y-axis respectively . P (3,2) divides the line segment MN in the ratio 2:3. Find the coordinates of M and N and the slope of the line MN.

Let , point M and N be (x',0) and (0,y')

then according to given question

3=(2*0 + 3x')/2+3

15= 3x'

x'= 5

and,

2=(2y'+3*0)/2+3

10=2y'

y'=5

therefore, coordinates of M is (5,0) and N is (0,5).

Slope of line MN is

= (Y2-Y1)/X2-X1)

= (5-0)/(0-5)

= 5/-5

= -1
